Hastings Brewery Club – 2nd Meeting

It’s almost time for the 2nd Hastings Brewery Club meeting! Once again, it’ll be held in the Seaside Room at the White Rock Hotel, on the seafront in Hastings.

It’s on Wednesday 28th March 2012 – and we’ll be holding a quiz night! With prizes!

Come and test your knowledge of beer, breweries, and pubs – local, national, and international. Make a team of up to 6 people (or be brave and have a go by yourself).

As usual, entrance is free. And we’ll have samples of one of our beers. There’ll also be at least one of our normal ales on at the bar.

You’ll also get the chance to buy one of our fantastic Hastings Brewery pint glasses!

The quiz starts at 8pm. See you there!

Our Latest Beer: HSB – Hastings Special Bitter

Just before Christmas we launched our newest regular beer – HSB, or Hastings Special Bitter.

As the name suggests, it’s classed as a “special bitter” – a brewers term which means it’s similar to a normal bitter, but stronger. And it certainly is, at 5.5% ABV!

So, yes, it’s not a session bitter. We imagine that most people would feel a bit funny after drinking six pints of the stuff.

But it is a great antidote against the cold, blustery winter weather. Enjoy a pint or two to warm your cockles.

Here’s what Brett (head brewer) has to say about it:

Three different malts combine to provide this strong bitter with a middling sweetness and medium mouthfeel. The sweet & fruity aroma is complemented by a bitter finish from the local East Kent Goldings hops.

So there you go. Expect to see it in decent freehouses in the local area over the coming months!
